NO I.D. NO HINKLER FOR ME

Hinkler Central, along with the community of Bundaberg, has created a Youth Protocol (Code of Conduct).

We want everyone to have the right to feel safe and enjoy shopping at Hinkler Central every time.

What is the Youth Protocol?

A protocol is an agreed set of behavioural standards and responses to unacceptable behaviour. The agreement is developed with the co-operation of local police, the wider community, the shopping centre community (management, retailers, contractors, staff and customers) and our youth.

Representatives from local youth groups and private and public secondary schools formed a committee and worked together over recent months to develop a code of conduct for Hinkler Central. While you are in the centre, grab a copy of our DL flyer which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviour at Hinkler Central and the consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

Hinkler Central's Marketing Manager Elysia Billingham, Queensland Police Services, Senior Community Crime Prevention Officer Sue Rewald, Senior Constable Rob Jorna and Spotless Security Officer's will be visiting Bundaberg Secondary schools across the year to explain the protocol and how it works.

The slogan "NO I.D. NO HINKLER FOR ME" - refers to the student ID cards issued through most secondary schools. Students who do not hold ID cards or school pass cards if they are in the Centre during school time will be dealt with in accordance with the new protocol.

Under 12's must be supervised within the Centre. Parents, or police if the parents are not contactable, will be called if a person under the age of 12 is found to be unsupervised in the Centre.

The new code of conduct takes effect immediately.

We would like to thank those students who participated in the workshops and developing the protocol. We would also like to thank The Salvation Army, Bundaberg Police, Spotless Security and Education Queensland for their invaluable contribution.
