Angus & Coote
Angus & Coote, Australia's leading jewellery and watch retailer was established in late November, 1895 when Edmund James (EJ) Coote, a 26 year old jeweller together with his Watchmaker partner William Angus, commenced business in Sydney.
In 1978 the process of expansion continued in the eastern states with the purchase of Dunklings the Jewellers based in Melbourne. The addition of the seven stores which had grown from Dunklings beginnings in 1884 were the for runner to National coverage.
July 1992 there was major expansion into Queensland with the purchase of the 26 store business, Amies The Family Jewellers, a Brand that was integrated into Angus & Coote. As a result the majority of the Company's retail stores traded under names other than Angus & Coote.
August 1996 Angus & Coote acquired the Edments Chain of jewellery stores located in Darwin, Western and South Australia. This consisted of 29 stores. This made Angus and Coote a National retail jewellery chain with stores in every state and territory of Australia.
November 2008 will see the re branding of all Dunklings, Amies and Edmunds stores to the national name of Angus & Coote. This will give Angus & Coote synergies with marketing and national brand awareness.
Whilst the store names are changing, customers can expect the same high level of dedication from our national sales team and continued high level of quality and service.
